RAIN & MORE RAIN
Erris slumped to their first league defeat at home to Westport United (B) on Saturday evening the 5th, final score 1-4.
Erris went behind on 21 minutes from a Dylan Duane effort just inside the area but right from kick-off Dylan Walker levelled for Erris with nice finish. Then Westport added two more before the break from Joe Grady on 24 minutes and Dylan Duane with his second on 30 minutes.
When play resumed Erris continued to push for their second with Ryan Ruddy, Jason O’Donnell & Dylan Walker making the most of the goal chances that came their way.
But Erris found themselves a man down midway through the half when Kyle O’Reilly picked up his second yellow and with the rain cascading down, Westport added their fourth from a goalkeeping error on 89 minutes from substitute Mark McNally.
Erris can reflect on a good second half showing, despite the score line.
Team- Nathan Reilly, Aaron Carey (Capt), Patrick Geoghegan, John Gaughan, Niall Geraghty, Patrick Sweeney, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete MacArthur, Ryan Ruddy, Dylan Walker, Jason O’Donnell. Subs used- Jason Boylan, Billy O’Connor, Darragh Murray, and Ivan Barrett. (All in second half)

SNATCH & GRAB
A week is a long time in Politics and so is 45 minutes and Erris put in a great performance in the second half in their second League game encounter with Knock-Kiltimagh on Sunday 23rd claiming all three points.
Erris found themselves a goal down shortly into the opening half when the visitors were awarded a free on the left of the area and Dara Handlen headed home at the near post.
Then shortly after, the visitors could have made it two but Dara Handlen failed to connect with an excellent cross from close range. Erris were back level on 34 minutes with a Kyle O’Reilly free from 25 yards to the bottom corner. Knock-Kiltimagh added two more before half time to leave the score 1-3.
After a good dressing down at half time Erris looked a different side when play resumed and Kyle O’Reilly made it 2-3 with an excellent free from just outside the area and again with a good hat-trick effort shortly after. Dylan Walker slotted home two more and the visitors scored again just before full time, 5-4 the final score.
Erris will be delighted with their second half showing saying that Carnenash Park is still a daunting place at the best of times.

Mixed emotions at Carne Nash in eight goal encounter in the Mayo Premier League 2020 season.
There was an eight goal thriller to open proceedings at Carne Nash on Sunday 16th as Erris United and Snugboro United drew 4-4 in a very entertaining game.
Brendan Nallen had Iorras in front on sixteen minutes with an excellent finish, Luke O’Reilly the provider. But on 21 minutes Jason Ormsby made it 1-1 with the first of his two goals in the first half with his second arriving on the half hour mark. On forty one minutes it was a case Kyle O’Reilly provided a great pass to his brother Luke who finished with his usual style which ended the half 2-2.
Two minutes into the second half Ryan Ruddy had Iorras back in front with a nice finish just inside the area with Brendan Nallen the provider, but on seventy three minutes Jason Ormsby scored his third with top corner finish making it 3-3.
Luke O’Reilly then thought he had won it for Iorras with his second of the day on seventy six minutes but with the clock ticking down Snogboro’s Dylan Felle slotted home from close range to finish the encounter all squar.
Erris Manager Ivan Barrett gave a number of young up and coming players their first team debuts. There was mixed emtions when reflecting on the opening encounter from both outfits.
TEAM- Sean Noone, Peter MacArthur, John Ginty, Neal Geraghty (Capt), Tom Ivan, Eamon Carey, Brendan Nallen, Arran Reilly, Luke Reilly, Ryan Ruddy, Kyle Reilly. Subs used in second half were – Arran Carey, Diathi Cosgrove, Billy O’Connor, Dylan Walker, Dara Padden.

POLITICAL BREAKTHROUGH FOR ROSE
Erris United FC/Iorras Aontaithe wishes to congratulate Rose Conway Walsh on making political history in securing a Dail seat for the Mayo constituency & Erris for Sinn Fein in Election 2020.
Rose is bridging a gap of 51 years since an Erris TD was elected; Joe Leneghan from Belmullet was a Dail member back in the 60’s and 70’s. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as an independent Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo North constituency at the 1961 general election. He lost his seat at the 1965 general election but was subsequently nominated by the Taoiseach to the 11th Seanad. He was elected as a Fianna Fáil TD for the Mayo West constituency at the 1969 general election. He lost his seat at the 1973 General Election. Our new TD and our last TD may be different genders and belong to different Political Parties but they were both born in Ballycroy
Congratulation also to Micheal Ring (FG) & Dara Calleary (FF) on retaining their Dail seats and to Alan Dillon (FG) securing his first seat which was held by former Taoiseach Enda Kenny

Erris continue good league form
Iorras continued their good home form on Saturday evening the 8th in the Premier League claiming all three points against Glenhest Rovers, final score 4-2.
Erris were in front after three minutes with Brendan Nallen slotting home from close range and on 18 minutes Dylan Walker made it 2-0 but on 23 minutes Glenhest were awarded a penalty with Kevin Ward scoring. Then just before the break Brendan Nallen made it 3-1 with Ryan Ruddy the provider.
In the second half Glenhest began to impose themselves more on the game and on 69 minutes Pat Mulchrone made it 3-2 but on 72 minutes Erris made it 4-2 from the boot of Daithi Cosgrave with a lovely individual effort from the edge of the area and the best goal of the evening.
Erris are certainly playing with more confidence with the addition of young players in the side but there was moments in this encounter their defence was tested, onwards & upwards.
