The Iorras Aontaithe/Erris United awards for the 2009 season were presented on Saturday Evening 7th in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. The Club Chairman, Tom Reilly welcomed everyone and congratulated all the winners. He thanked McNulty Transport for sponsoring the awards and their continuing support of the club plus all the other sponsors for their continuing support. NATIONAL HEADLINE
You me have read in the National media recently were a number of Clubs in Ireland have benefited from a 200k cash windfall in relation to compensation for their players who moved across the Irish sea.
Iorras Aontaithe are to receive financial compensation from Ipswich Town F.C. for exciting midfielder/striker Ronan Murray who is being tipped to break into Roy Keane’s match-day squad during the coming year. Ronan spent eight years with Erris before moving across the water. Everyone at Erris United F.C. wish Ronan every success in the future in his professional career.
The financial compensation which the club will receive will be of great benefit to the next phase of development at Carne Nash Park, astroturf pitch, spectator stand, storage shed, score board, security fencing.

JOINT TOP FOR IORRAS U16
Iorras Aontaithe U16 are joint top of Division one with Ballyheane with 12 points each after their 4-2 win over Manulla on Monday evening the 2nd. Two goals in the first half from Paul Barrett and Tommy Conroy with two more in the second half from Owen O’ Donahue and Kyle O’Reilly rounded off a very good evenings performance. The league is now at the half way stage.

DRAW IN LOCAL DERBY
Iorras Aontaithe (B) were away to local rivals, Bangor Hib’s on Saturday evening in the Premier Division with the game ending 3-3.
Tom McAndrew had Erris in front 3 minutes into the game with a fine effort but Bangor were back on level terms on 42 minutes from Brian McHale. Then on 44 minutes Bangor went in front with a good effort from Stephen Sweeney. But just on 45 minutes Stephen Nallan had Erris (B) back level at half time. Shortly into the second half Jason Boylan scored to give Iorras back the lead but in the 80th minute Micky Sweeney made it 3-3 for both sides to share the points. With the league now in the closing stage’s survival for Iorras will go right down to the wire.

THE ANNUAL DUCK RACE 2010
The big annual club fund-raiser, the duck race, will be held on Sunday 22nd August at 5.00pm.
The years event is Sponsored by Lennon Quarries and Lundy meats with 1st prize of 500Euro, 2nd and 3rd prize of 100 Euro with 4th prize of 50 Euro and that last duck home prize of 50 Euro. HAT-TRICK HEROS
Iorras Aontaithe were not in the mood for nicety’s in their 8-1 win over Snugboro United, away, on Saturday evening 24th July.
Erris were four goals up going in to half time thanks to Micky Togher on 8 minutes and a Chris Barrett hat-trick on 22, 28 and 33 minutes.
In the second half Erris continued their siege of the Snugboro goal with scores from Sub, Pat Ginnelly, 60 minutes. Micky Togher, 72 and 87 minutes his hat-trick, and probably the best goal of the evening coming from Sub, Anthony Paddan on 87 minutes with a well met header on the edge of the area from a well taken cross from Brendan Nallan. Final score Erris United 8 Snugboro United 1. This was another very good display from Iorras with great movement, passing and control football with Anthony Mills, Kenny O’Connor, Pat Barrett and Brendan Nallan having good displays. The Manager had to make seven changes, due to players not available, from the side that hit Manulla for six on the 18th.TEAM- Enda Conroy, Stephen Nallan, David Reilly, Neil Geraghty, Liam Donohue: Kenny O’Connor, Anthony Mills, Pat Barrett, Michael Meeaghan: Micky Togher, Chris Barrett.
