IORRAS (B) GIFT POINTS TO CUP FINAL OPPOINTS

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 6:28 pm

In  a dress rehearsal for the Tuohy Cup Final on the 25th July, Iorras Aontaithe (B) locked horns with their cup opponents,  Claremorris in the Premier Division at Carne Nash Park on Sunday 11th July and they gifted the three points to the visitors in a four minute period in the second half which was reminiscent of a scene from a Laurel and Hardy sketch,  with a final score, 4-2.

Brian Gallagher had Claremorris in front on 8 minutes and on 31 minutes Claremorris were denied a second by the goal post, but just before half time, Iorras were awarded a penalty when Sean O’Donnell was fouled and Padraig Doherty scored from the spot kick.

Jason Boylan, great goal.

The second half had no sooner started, when Jen Varley had Claremorris back in front when Iorras Keeper, Harry Reilly got down late to save his effort. Then four minutes later Iorras were back on level terms when Jason Boylan produced a great shot from 30 yards but the young man’s joy was short leaved when on 68 minutes, he was harshly red carded by Referee, Pat Foley.  Then on 75 and 78 minutes, Laurel & Hardy defending by Iorras allowed Kevin Costello and Mark Doble to seal the points for Claremorris and just before full time, Player-Manager, Paul Reilly was unfortunate to be shown a second yellow card. Not a very good dress rehearsal, for the home side, with the Cup final in two weeks time.

TEAM- Harry Reilly, Paul Reilly, Vincent McGrath, Robert Carey, Tom Duffy: John Noel Flannery, Stephen Nallan, Padraig Doherty, Stephen Cawley, Jason Boylan, Sean O’Donnell. Sub- Shane Nallan for Tom Duffy on 62 minutes.
