Congratulations to Ronan Murray, Ipswich Town F.C.& Ireland International on receiving the Young Erris Person of the Year award as part of the Erris Person of the year awards which are Sponsored by Leading Provincial Newspaper the Western People in conjunction with the Belmullet/Erris Lions Club.Ronan went from playing Soccer on his front lawn to honing his skills at Iorras Aontaithe/Erris United Youth Academy before joining Ipswich Town F.C. were he is forging ahead on that long hard road on to Professional Football. Ronan is also establishing his mark in the Republic of Ireland International Youth set up, having at the end of 08, joined the Ireland U18 Squad having impressed at a younger level. Ronan’s family,neighbours,friends, Erris Community and all his former playing and coaching colleagues at Iorras Aontaithe/Erris United wish him continued success. If you meet Ronan on his brief visits home he will strike you as a well mannered unassuming shy young man. Ronan is an inspiration to all people in Erris, both young and old, and he has shown that you can succeed at the highest levels if you are prepared to dedicate yourself. The presentation to the Award recipients will take place on 20th March in The Broadhaven Bay Hotel. Tickets are available from Cuffe’s Centra Main St Belmullet.
Iorras Aontaithe would also like to congratulate Pat Gallagher, Ballycroy on been chosen, Erris Person of the Year. Pat is a outstanding Community Person of many many years and is well deserving of this accolade. The Club also congratulates Gerry Campbell,Toughnaugh, Bellacorrick and Chicago U.S.A. on been chosen Erris Exile of the Year.
