Iorras Aontaithe are in the Quarter Final of the F.A.I. Umbro Junior Cup for the first time in the Clubs 25 Year history winning in style away to Kinsale F.C. with two second half goals from Micky T.Togher and Stephen Carolan. The home side started the first half the better with the Iorras keeper, Shane Nallan making a number of great saves but ten minutes into the game Iorras started to find their feet and make inroads against the breeze. It was in the second half that things started to happen for the travelling Iorras. 6 minutes into the half Iorras were awarded a free just inside their own area and Shane Nallan’s kick was nodded into the roof of the net by Micky T. Togher and ten minutes later another Shane Nallan long kick out, which the Kinsale keeper failed to control, and Stephen Carolan was on hand to nod it home. Then 3 minutes later John Gaughan came very close when his header, from a corner, which skimmed the cross bar. In the dying seconds of injury time Iorras conceded a late goal. This is another great national cup round win for Iorras Aontaithe which answered the critics on the clubs away form, and despite, the first half injury of player-Manager, Eric O’ Reilly and the injury to defender, David Reilly who failed in the match warm-up with his ankle, the substitutes proved there is quality in the player panel with outstanding defending by Neil Geraghty. Iorras now await quarter-final draw and they are proving serious cup contenders. The club thanks all the supporters who made the long journey south to picturesque, Kinsale and also Kinsale F.C. for their after match hospitality.
