This was a very important win for Erris and it was just the tonic they needed after their defeat away to Westport United on Thursday evening the 4th.
Anthony Mills had Iorras in front 10 minutes into the game but Ballina were back level 8 minutes later when they were awarded a penalty, which resulted in Brendan Nallan been shown the red card by Mick Walsh, and John Durkan converted. Erris continued to push forward and on 35 minutes
Mickey Sweeney had the home side in-front again with very good finish. But two minutes from half time David O’Mahoney had Ballina back level scoring from close range. In the second Erris continued their pressure game on the opposition despite the efforts of Ballina, but on 70 minutes Iorras were awarded a penalty which
Gary Boylan scored. Ballina continued to probe Erris for the equaliser, but victory went to Iorras in the afternoon heat. Erris United are away to Ballyheane in their next league fixture.
