THE COLD WIND DID BLOW – AND THAT IT DID

Iorras Aontaithe, will face Mervue United in quarter final.

Iorras Aontaithe are in the Quarter final of the Connaght junior Cup with a comfortable 0-4 away win to Galway side, Oughterard on Sunday 10th Match. The game was played in a very strong and very cold cross field wind, reminiscent of  Carne Nash Park. The home side started the brighter with Erris Keeper, Shane Nallan have to deal with a good header from a corner two minutes into the game.

The view is lovely, but can someone turn off that wind.

But in the 20th minute Erris went in front when Jonathan Donahue scored with good finish after some good build-up play from Mark Gilbert and Micky Togher. It remained 1-0 at the break and six minutes into the second half Shane Murphy made it 2-0 with Micky Togher the provider. Then 8 minutes later Erris scored their third when Brendan Nallan wiped in a good free out on the right to the fare post for David Reilly to head home.  Micky Togher rounded off a measurable afternoon for the Galway side when he scored the fourth goal for Erris.

 

Both teams observed a minutes silence before kick-off in memory of the late Colette Sweeney R.I.P.
