St Bernard’s United, with a Brendan Nallen header in the 29th minute. The Galway side had the most of the play in the opening half with Erris having to produce some good defending with David Reilly and Neil Geraghty in excellent form.

But Iorras started to show their good form half way through the half with Henry Gaughan and Micky Togher pressing the Galway side defence and Erris were awarded a free out on the right, on 29 minutes, and the resulting deep cross from Mark Gilbert found David Reilly, who sent the ball back into the box, for
Brendan Nallen to head past Dennis Farragher. But three minutes later both sides found themselves down to ten after red cards were produced. It was 1-0 at the break.

In the second half Erris were a complete contrast to their first half efforts and found themselves down to nine men in the 58th minute with a second yellow. St Bernard’s pushed forward looking for the equaliser but had no clear cut effort. Then Erris introduced Eamon McAndrew for Jonathan Donahue on 62 minutes, Eamon Carey for Diarmuid Healy on 72 minutes and Ivan Barrett on 80 minutes, but it remained 1-0 in the end.
