Iorras Aontaithe recorded a 2-1 victory over Castlebar Celtic in the quarter final of the Divisional cup (FCS Cup) at a Very windy Carne Nash Park on Friday evening the 4th May.
The game was played in bright sunshine, but a very cold wind was blowing from the North West with gusts of 4 to 7 with heavy swells. Iorras went in front on 15 minute when Mark Gilbert was foiled in the area after some good build-up play from Oisin Murphy, Henry Gaughan converted the resulting penalty. Then on 40 minutes Mark Gilbert put Iorras two in front, with Henry Gaughan providing the final pass. The visitors had their moments in the opening half from Chris Rowland and Sean McHale both coming close on occasions.
It remained 2-0 at the break. In the second half Castlebar Celtic had the wind advantage, and on 83 minutes Nigel Naughton pulled one back from a free on the edge of the area to leave the final score Iorras Aontaithe 2 Castlebar Celtic 1. Over all, this was a good performance from the home side, in very cold windy conditions.

Unfortunately Iorras Aontaithe (B) were knocked out on penalties, 4-5 in their home clash with Charlestown Athletic in round one of the Touhy cup, after the game ended 3-3.
