Iorras Aontaithe (B) were up against Castlebar Celtic (B) on Thursday evening the 23rd in a rescheduled League fixture,, the final score Iorras (B) 1 Celtic (B) 2.
Erris began well with better football from their last outing. They had lots of possession but were finding it hard make use of it, and on 32 minutes, totally against the run of play, the visitors took the lead when Terry Maughan slotted the ball past Harry Reilly. Castlebar Celtic (B) could have made it 2-0 two minutes later, but the effort clipped the cross bar. It remained 1-0 at the break. In the second half Erris (B) continued to press the opposition and on 64 minutes the grand old young man, Gareth O’Malley had Iorras back level with a neat finish. Erris (B) continued to push forward for the lead goal with efforts from Vinnie McGrath, Paul Barrett, Tom Duffy and Jason Boylan.
But on 74 minutes Terry Maughan scored his second goal after some sloppy defending by Iorras. The home side pushed forward in the closing minutes, even Harry Reilly, the Erris keeper got in on the efforts to be replace by Paul Reilly in goal, but it wasn’t enough and the visitors had done enough to secure all three points.
