Iorras Aontaithe breezed past Super League rivals, Swinford in round two of the Connaught Gold cup at Carne Nash Park on Sunday 19th June, final score Erris United 4 Swinford 0.
The home side started the brighter with Micky Togher, Mark Gilbert and Anthony Mills probing the visitors.But in the 14th minute, Brendan Nallen had Erris in front with a unchallenged effort just out side the area. But Swinford could have levelled on 32 minutes, but Alan Carter’s effort rattled the cross bar.
Then on 39 minutes, Jonathan Donoghue made it 2-0 just before the break, with an excellent finish from a tight angle from the left, side almost on the end-line, squeezing it in between the Keeper and the post. In the second half Swinford pushed forward with Chris Reddington, Richey Dalton, Trevor McDonald, and Alan Carter trying to pull one back.
Then, Erris assistant Manager, Martin McIntyre made some changes which injected more pace in to the Iorras attack and on 77 minutes substitute, Eamon McAndrew scored, goal number three.
Ten minutes later Eamon McAndrew scored his second to make it 4-0 . The final score could have been greater, given the number of chances Iorras had in the closing minutes.
