Iorras Aontaithe made hard work of their 5th round F.A.I. Junior Cup clash at home to Dublin Bus on Sunday 4th January. Iorras Aonthaithe were in bad luck just into the start of the game when defender, Paul Reilly was injured and was substituted. Iorras were two goals down heading to half time when Jonathan Donohue was fowled in the Dublin penalty area and the resulting penalty was converted by Player-Manager, Eric Reilly, which left the score line reading 1-2. In the second half Iorras continued their revival with continued pressure on the visitor’s goal with numerous chances to score, even Iorras keeper, Shane Nallan almost scored with one of his long kick outs. But on 75 minutes John Gaughan powered the ball home from just inside the area after the Dublin side failed to clear. The game ended at 2-2 and extra time was called for, which failed to produce a winner. A penalty shot out can be a nerve racking experience at any time and this was no exception and with goals from Eric Reilly, David Reilly and Brendan Nallan plus three great saves from Shane Nallan Iorras booked their place in the 6th round at home to Pike Rovers of Limerick which will be played on the 1st February.
