The two sides unbeaten in the first round of the Masters league locked horns on Wednesday Night with a happy outcome for the boys from the Baroney. Iorras Aontaithe secured a valuable three points with a 2.1 victory against a very good Fahy outfit on Wednesday evening 26th. Both goals coming from Kieran Lavelle headers,one in each half either side of Fahy’s goal, Iorras were having to start without regular goal keeper Dessie Hefferon,Sean Walsh drew the short straw and went between the posts,Sean was outstanding throughout and pulled off a couple of top drawer saves and was very commanding in his area,the backs gave nothing away and Iorras midfield controlled the middle of the park,the strikers also doing their bit,Iorras were denied a certain penalty in the second half when the referee waved play on after Kieran lavelle was up ended in the box (referee admitted after he should have given it) a lot of good then. This was an excellent win for Iorras against a very direct and physical Fahy side and leaves Iorras top of division one with 6 wins from 6 at the half way stage. “Old Macs” men now have a week off before the second round of match’s commence.
