There was mixed fortunes for Erris United on the first day in the 2010 Mayo League Season. Iorras Aontaithe (B) were away to Partry Athletic and the clash resulted in a 3 -0  defeat. But the (A) side and Manager, Michael S. Togher got off to a winning start in the Super League at home to Ballyheane. In the first half Erris had the most of the exchanges with Henry Gaughan threatening on eight minutes and Anthony Mills hitting the post on 11 minutes.

In the second half, Ballyheane imposed themselves more on the game and had Erris on the back foot at times, but the Iorras defence played well.  Erris ended the game with ten men when, on 81 minutes, Brendan Nallan was given a straight red for a bone crunching tackle. The new Manager was happy with how his side preformed. Final score, Iorras 1 Ballyheane 0.
