The Wild Bunch directed by Sam Peckinpah, is a award winning western from 1969 about an ageing outlaw gang at the Texas-Mexico border trying to exist in the modern world of supposedly 1913. The film was controversial because of its violence and the portrayal of the crude men trying to survive the era. On Wednesday night the 21st October Iorras Aontaithe will have its own version of the Wild Bunch taking to the astro turf of Milebush Park for the launch of the over 35 Westaro Masters league against Fahy Rovers with kick-off at 9.00pm. Former Club greats like Micky Dixon, Martin Boylan, Anthony Duffy, Eamon Dixon and Harry Reilly, to name but a few, will be putting on their boots for one last ride. In the move the leader of the gang was a man called Pike Bishop played by William Holden but leading the Clubs over 35 side will be our version of Pike Bishop, Michael S.Togher. There’s a line in the move spoken by Deke Thornton played by Robert Ryan when he says “We’re after men, real men, and I wished to god I was with them”. Ride on Iorras Aontaithe over 35,s
