“GREAT SCOTT”

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 7:38 pm

Great Scott- a line from the Movie, Back to the Future, a saying which could describe the Iorras goalkeeper, Scott Kilker and his penalty save in the U17 Cup Semi-Final V Claremorris.   It’s certainly back to the Future for their Manager, Michael S.Togher.   Iorras Aontaithe U17 secured their place in the final of their cup competition at sun drenched Carne Nash park in front of a large home support on Saturday 14th July winning 3-2 0n penalty’s against Claremorris after the game ended 2-2 after extra time. Iorras started will in the opening half with Tom Ivan putting Erris in front after 17 minutes from 15 yards out, after some great work from Ryan Donahue, holding off his markers. Then on 36 minute Pete MacArthur put Erris two in front with great individual effort with a great run down the right side from mid-field, skipping past two defenders and powering the ball into the far corner, from the edge of the area. At the break it was 2-0. When play resumed Claremorris started with more urgency, and they pulled one back from a penalty after 4 minutes. It stayed like that until injury time when Claremorris levelled the score with a free from the edge of the area.

Extra time was called for and 7 minutes in, Erris were awarded a penalty, but Gary Boylan’s effort hit the cross bar. The second period of extra time produced nothing surprising.  In the penalty shoot-out, it was 3-2 to Erris, and with Claremorris needing the fifth penalty kick, it was Erris Keeper, Scott Kilker who was the hero with a fine save to send Iorras Aontaithe U17 through to the final.  Afterwards the Manager, Michael S. Togher was delighted with how his team preformed. Well done to all and good luck in the final.
