MASTERS WORK HARD FOR WIN

Category: UncategorizedEric @ 7:21 pm

The two sides unbeaten in the first round of the Masters league locked horns on Wednesday Night with a happy outcome for the boys from the Baroney. Iorras Aontaithe secured a valuable three points with a 2.1 victory against a very good Fahy outfit on Wednesday evening 26th. Both goals coming from Kieran Lavelle headers, one in each half either side of Fahy’s goal, Iorras were having to start without regular goal keeper Dessie Hefferon,Sean Walsh drew the short straw and went between the posts,Sean was outstanding throughout and pulled off a couple of top drawer saves and was very commanding in his area, the backs gave nothing away and Iorras midfield controlled the middle of the park, the strikers also doing their bit,Iorras were denied a certain penalty in the second half when the referee waved play on after Kieran lavelle was up ended in the box (referee admitted after he should have given it) a lot of good then. This was an excellent win for Iorras against a very direct and physical Fahy side and leaves Iorras top of division one with 6 wins from 6 at the half way stage. “Old Macs” men now have a  week off before the second  round  of match’s commence.  Good luck in the second round everyone.

Team, Sean Walsh,Eamon Dixon,Pat Murphy,Martin Boylan,Vinny McGrath,Kieran Lavelle,Martin McIntyre,Kenneth Lynskey,Michael J Nallen,Eric O’ Reilly. Players out this week were Harry Reilly (injured),Gerry lavelle (unavailable),Dessie hefferon (injured) and Michael Dixon(extended holiday)

“HELP”

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 8:15 pm

Help, I need somebody, Help, not just anybody, Help, you know I need someone, help. The opening words to that great Beatles Classic, and that is exactly what Iorras Aontaithe under age are looking for over the coming weeks and months with under age at the Club. Like all sporting clubs, under age football is a vital part of any football organisation and having lots of help to run the various age groups makes life that bit stress free. If anyone has a hour and a half to spare once a week for, around six months,  starting in March, Iorras are looking for HELP with under-age training and if you are interested, maybe HELPING out with a team, give a call to Eric on 087-6300830.

IT’S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP (IF YOU WANNA ROCK ‘N’ ROLL)

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 8:00 pm

A yes, that great AC/DC classic from the album, Stiff upper lip. Everyone was watching SKY Sports recently as former club youth member Ronan Murray come off the bench during Ipswich Towns Carling cup semi-final victory over Arsenal.

Ronan, second from lift with former Iorras Aontaithe team mates, Tom McAndrew, Jonathan Donoghue and Micky Togher at the club 25th anniversary dinner..

The 1-0 win was a shock for the Premier League hot shots and a great night for Ronan and the squad.  “It was a great night. The atmosphere was the best I’ve ever heard in Portman Road, he said.  Ronan has been making steady progress with the Championship side through the youth and reserve ranks and has featured regularly this season in the senior squad, but the recent game was his biggest stage by far. When Ronan got the word to warm up he wasn’t a bit nervous with lots of adrenaline flowing. He has also featured against Chelsea in the F.A. cup. Many congratulations from all at your old club and as the song says, keep on rock-in.
