Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 7:31 pm

The unbeaten, Super League run of Iorras Aontaithe, finally come crashing down at the feet of title holders Ballina Town on Sunday 13th June, with a final score, 4-1.

Testing times for Iorras Aontaithe

The home side started the brighter and the Iorras back four were on the back foot at times. But against the run of play, Iorras went in front, when a Brendan Nallan free, close to the halfway line, was headed down by John Gaughan to Micky Togher who side footed the ball home on 31 minutes.  Iorras continued foreword with Micky Togher and Colin Stewart coming close. But just before half time Ballina could have levelled, when they clipped the cross bar on 43 minutes but Iorras had the advantage at the break. Three minutes into the second half Ballina levelled, when they were awarded a penalty, it was a major turning point. Iorras were pushing forward with, again, Micky Togher coming close on 52 and 65 minutes. But Ballina added three more goals on 73, 75 and 85 minutes to secure the three points. The referee come in for harsh criticism from Erris supporters and Players at the final whistle.

IORRAS AONTAITHE U14 IN CUP SEMI-FINAL

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 11:31 pm

Club Youth Secretary and Under age Coach, Eric O’Reilly is happy with how the Under 14 Panel has preformed this season, and even though they lost at home to Manulla on Wednesday evening the 9th 1-3, they can reflect on their second half performance, and were very unlucky not to have won the encounter, hitting the post three times in the second half. Ryan Ruddy scored the only Iorras  goal, from just inside the area with a great header after some good build-up play by Gary Boylan and Einri Healy. With one game left in their division, they will have secured a fourth place finish. The U14 side have also the Semi-Final of the Cup to look foreword to. Well done everyone.

Coach, Eric O'Reilly with the Iorras Aontaithe U14 side.

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 11:14 pm

Yes folks, it’s that young man, Jack Deane,  made a dramatic return into the loving arms of Iorras Aontaithe (B) scoring a great goal in this evenings  clash away to Clew Bay United in the Premier Division.

Jack Deane, fantastic goal effort

The home side went in front on 30 minutes, but up stepped Jack 5 minutes later with a goal that will stay long in the memory from 40 yards, their is unconfirmed reports that it hit off the church gable on top of Croke Patrick, such was the force of the kick, and went into the back of the net, but this has not been confirmed, but seriously folks, the shot was from 40 yards and it was a great effort. The game was 1-1 at half time and it finished 1-1. A very good performance by Iorras (B) who travelled with a number of player absent.
