Iorras Aontaithe unveiled their new away strip before kick-off, with Sponsor Cathal Shevlin of Shevlin Engineering

Galway side, Mervue United ended any interest that Iorras Aontaithe had in the Connaught Cup at the 5th round at sunny, but cold Carne Nash Park on Sunday 19th February, final score Iorras 0 Mervue 3. Iorras were unlucky not to have gotten something out of the opening half, with the amount of possession they had with no fewer than seven corners, but on 43 minutes the visitors scored with the one opportunity presented, to leave Erris trailing 1-0 at half time. Ten minutes into the second half Iorras were awarded a penalty when Sean Gaughan was fouled, but unfortunately the resulting kick ended up going wide. Two more goals from the visitors in the half ended a nightmare afternoon for Iorras. Afterwards Manager, Michael S.Togher announced he was stepping down to concentrate on Youth Management  and wished all the players the best of luck for the coming season.

Michael S. Togher who has stepped down as Manager.

SPRING IN THE AIR FOR IORRAS MASTERS

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 12:30 am

Pat Murphy, great second half effort

Iorras Aontaithe Masters continued their winning ways in the Masters league in Mile Bush tonight Wednesday 1st with a 5-4 win over Ballyvary Blue Bombers.

Eric O'Reilly, what a lovely boy plus two goals

In the opening exchanges Ballyvary scored first but Iorras were soon back level with a Eric O’Reilly effort, but when the break arrived the Bombers were 2-1 up. Shortly into the second half Erris where back level with Gareth O’Malley doing the honours

Harry Reilly, just can't stop scoring

Gareth O'Malley, the handy man

Then Pat Murphy made it 3-2 and shortly after that Eric netted his second on the night. With the clock ticking down, Harry Reilly made it 5-2 but Ballyvary made a late rally and scored two more before full time one of these incidentally from former Erris great Stephan Carolan.

YOU GOTTA HAND IT TO O’MALLEY

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 1:40 am

In the Quarter final of the Masters cup on Wednesday night the 25th January, Iorras Aontaithe and Fahy Rovers played out a cracking game, with the final score: Iorras 5 Fahy 4. (After extra time).

Gareth O'Malley, handy to have around.

Iorras were two goals down in the first few minutes of the opening half but by half time Iorras had pulled two goals back thanks to Gareth O’Malley, who, incidentally had suffered a hand injury five minutes into the half when he fell awkwardly, to leave the score line 2-3 to Fahy Rovers at half time.

Harry Reilly, the goal predator

Into the second half and Iorras continued to push forward, and two further goals for Erris, one from O’Malley and one from Harry Reilly had the sides 4-4 at full time. Extra time was called for and in the closing minutes up popped O’Malley, again to send Erris though to the Semi-Final with an over heard kick.  Incidentally, Gareth O’Malley played all through the game carrying the hand injury (heavily bandaged)  which resulted in him going to casualty (later) for xray, but thankfully nothing broken. And as the headline reads, “You gotta hand it to O’Malley”
