Iorras Aontaithe cruised past newly promoted Achill Rovers in the third round of the FAI Junior Cup at Carne Nash Park on Sunday 23rd, final score Erris Utd 7 Achill Rovers 0.

Iorras were in front on 1 minute 11 second when Kyle O’Reilly tapped home from close range from a Jason Boylan cross. Then on 11 minutes Tom Ivan made it 2 nil with a nice individual effort. In the 27th minute Brendan Nallan made it 3 nil with Jason Boylan the provider. With the clock ticking down to the half-time break, Jason Boylan made it 4 nil with Kyle O’Reilly the provider.

During the opening half, Sean McNamara, Keith McGinty came close for Achill.

Into the second half the pain continued for the visitors, with veteran Gareth O’Malley getting on the score sheet on 57 minutes with Neil Cawley the provider, Jimmy Tighe with an excellent free from all of thirty yards and Brendan Nallan with his second goal effort on 65 minutes from an excellent Patrick Geoghegan cross.

The final margin could have been greater but for the heroics of Achill Rovers goalkeeper Stephen Cafferkey.

Good luck in the next round, and hopefully the draw will be at home.

IT’S THE FINAL COUNT DOWN.

Iorras picked up three vital points in their battle to stay in the Super League at home to Glenhest Rovers on Sunday 9th, final score Erris Utd 3 Glenhest Rovers 0.
Erris were ahead going in at the break thanks to Jason Boylan from the penalty spot and Brendan Nallan. In the 76th minute of the second half substitute Jason O’Donnell latched on to a quickly taken free from Jason Boylan to seal the points for Iorras. In the closing minutes of the encounter Brendan Nallan was denied by the post and substitute Kyle O’Reilly headed just over from an excellent Ryan Ruddy cross.img_20161009_130254587_hdr
Erris are away to Castlebar Celtic on the 30th October in their final game, and with Ballyheane losing to Claremorris, both are now on eleven points, it certainly is the final countdown.
