A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN.

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 5:35 pm

Shock waves reverberated around the football world this week when the Mayo Under 12 Division 1 was updated and Erris had risen to second from bottom. Having lost every league game they have played this season the Internet was awash with rumour as to how they had climbed to such dizzy heights. Fear not, loyal supporters, you did not miss the match, and first win, that we have all been waiting (begging, pleading and crying) for.
The first win came courtesy of Charlestown being unable to field a team and therefore conceding the points.
Manager Des could not be contacted as he is currently studying for his EUFA B licence. Manager Harry released a press statement “As club secretary I appointed Eric as Youth Secretary and Charlestown gave him the message so technically the three points are all down to me.”

Next up for Erris is away to top of the table 100% record Ballina Town. Eric has been told to keep his phone on at all times in case they call, unfortunately nothing has come through yet.

Squad for Charlestown match;
Eric O’Reilly, Harry Reilly, Des O’Connor.
Man of the match; Harry Reilly.

NOLLE TIMERE (Don’t be afraid).

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 9:50 pm

The passing of Seamus Heaney recently was met with great sadness. An extraordinary ordinary man who’s writing contained such emotion. In poems such as Clearances and Mid Term Break he wrote beautifully about grief and loss. One can’t help imagine that Seamus would have enjoyed this year’s Erris Utd Under 12’s who themselves are becoming masters at grief and loss.
Having lost their previous 6 league games some reshuffling was done with the line up. Diarmuid and Daithi started up front and caused chaos. The Sky stats show Erris had 97.5% possession in the first half. Unfortunately Ballinrobe scored a goal in the other 2.5%. However Daithi equalised with a stunning volley to level the scores at the break. The wind picked up, Erris found it tough playing into a force 8 gale and Ballinrobe scored twice more. Owen McHale was a contender for Man of the Match in goal with an outrageous penalty save. Shea O’ Donohue dominated midfield. Niall Murphy was like a Dyson, sweeping up at the back. Final score Erris 1 Ballinrobe 3. This was one of Erris’ best performances and all the players were praised by management and supporters for playing so well. Committee representatives were seen on the sideline and one feels it is only a matter of time before the axe falls and we have our first managerial casualty of the season. Manager Des said “the transfer window had the players upset, worried about whether Spurs would look to replace Bale with one of our lads, now the window is closed we can keep out the draught of discontent.” A spokesperson for representatives representing Manager Harry said “it’s all des’ fault.” Performances are improving, a win is imminent, and soon the longed for tidal wave of justice will rise up, and hope and history rhyme.

Team

Owen McHale, Billy O’Connor, Matthew Sullivan, Niall Murphy, Robert Barrett, Mark Harding, Shea O’Donoghue, Gabriel Harding, Matthew Walsh, Daithi Cosgrove, Diarmuid O’Donnell. Subs Jarlath Reilly, Conor Geraghty, Dara Dixon, David Lally, Cillian Reilly, Daniel Lally, Matthew Togher.

TRAINING – WE DON’T NEED TRAINING.

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 9:14 pm

On a day when Mayo discovered who their opponents will be in the All-Ireland final on the 22nd September,

Micky Togher, hat-trick hero

Iorras Aontaithe were putting five goals past Claremorris at home in the Super league.

Brendan Nallen, that Volvo Diesel is going better then ever.

Erris were 3-0 up at the break with goals from Micky Togher (2) and Brendan Nallen. Togher adding a third in the second half with Nallen grabbing his second before the final whistle.  Not bad for a side which has an version with training between games. They are currently in third place in the Super league on 18 points, all be it, on goal difference. On another point, four members of the U18 panel were included in the team selection this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Iorras (B) slumped to a 3-0 defeat away to Claremorris in their final outing in Division one on Saturday evening, leaving them on 24  points and a mid table finish.
