IORRAS As, CONCEDE LATE EQUAILISER

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 5:37 pm

A late goal in injury time gifted Ballyheane a share of the points at wind swiped Carne Nash on Sunday 28th in the Super league, result, Erris United 1 Ballyheane 1.

Iorras Aontaithe, penalty on the hour.

This was a very  close run encounter with both sides battling for control for the middle of the park all through the opening half  with no real good efforts on goal from both sides, so the half ended 0-0. In the second half Jason Boylan was introduced for the injured Eamon Carey shortly followed by Kyle O’Reilly and it brought some change to the Erris mid field and on 60 minutes Ballyheane conceded a penalty which David Reilly converted.

Ballyheane, equalised in injury time

PHELIMS BOYS RUN OUT OF STEAM

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 12:18 pm

When Erris (B) reflect on their opening fixture of the new league season in Division one, words like nightmare will spring to mind. Their clash with Glenhest Rovers could be described as been a game of two half’s for the home side. Iorras certainly started the brighter and were one up on 5 minutes with Gareth O’Malley slotting home from a Kyle O’Reilly pass.

Iorras Aontaithe (B), the cold wind did blow at Carne Nash, especially in the second half.

But Glenhest Rovers were back level on 23 minutes when the Iorras defence failed to deal with Christopher Rowland who scored from close range. Then four minutes later Seamus O’Malley had the home side in front with a neat finish. But just before the break Gareth O’Malley scored direct  from a corner to make it 3-1. Four minutes into the second half Kyle O’Reilly was presented with a great opportunity when he lost his maker, and with the keeper to beat, his effort went wide of the post. Glenhest started to impose themselves more on the game from this point on, especially in the middle of the park and on the 53rd minute then scored, and with further goals on 69 minutes, 75 minutes and on 82 minutes, the visitors took all three points. In the second half both sides had penalty claims dismissed by the Referee. Lots for the Management to ponder/reflect before the next fixture.  Final score Iorras (B) 3 Glenhest Rovers 5.

Next up their away to Achill Rovers on Saturday evening the 4th with a 6.30 kick-off.

IORRAS DENIED BY LATE PENALTY

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 11:18 pm

Iorras Aontaithe U15 were denied a share of the points by a late Castlebar Celtic penalty in their third league fixture of the new league season at Carne Nash on Wednesday evening the 24th April, final score, Iorras 1 Celtic 2.

Erris United U14, denied a share of the points by late penalty.

The Erris young guns are still looking for their first win after dropping points against Claremorris and dawning against Manulla in their opening fixtures. In the opening half Erris keeper, Niall Duffy denied Celtic’s Gavin Durcan’s powerful header with a great save shortly into the half but and at the other end, Adam Carabine was very close with his effort, but the half ended 0-0.

Castlebar Celtic, got out of jail with late gifted penalty.

Then half way through the second period Aryan Naughten gave Castlebar the lead with good finish but Iorras equalised shortly after when Adam Carabine scored from a Brian Keane free kick. But with the clock ticking down, Iorras conceded a needless penalty to gift Celtic the three points. TEAM-Niall Duffy, David Padden, Leo Howard, Michael Keane, Brain Keane: Nathan Reilly, Darragh Murray, Aaron Reilly, Dathi O’Donoghue: Adam Carabine, Padraig Reilly.

The SFAI U.12 Inter League Jim Cashin Cup Mayo, final score, 3-1 Roscommon

The Mayo Under 12 team maintained their 100% record in the Jim Cashin 12 Cup on Sunday last, 14th April with a hard earned victory over a gallant Roscommon team in round four of the SFAI inter league played in terrible conditions in Manulla.

Young Luke is showing his Dad's skill.

Roscommon started the brighter and were a goal up after 5 minutes, playing with a very strong wind at their back. Mayo initiated a response and through playing some good football, they were back on level terms after 20 minutes when Dylan Fell got onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and rounded the Roscommon defender and finished neatly in the bottom corner. Mayo were winning all the 50/50 balls in the centre of midfield and Jack O’Connor and Luke Dawson were causing Roscommon lots of problems in the wings. Despite the pressure from out wide, it was all square going in at the break.
In the second half Mayo introduced Luke O’Reilly and they started to get on top in all areas of the pitch. Playing with a strong wind at their back, Mayo had a number of chances to take the lead, particularly when Ronan Dervan went close with a well hit shot from close range but the Roscommon keeper was equal to his effort.
With 15 minutes remaining Luke O’Reilly showed some great skill by beating his man and striking an unstoppable shot into the bottom right hand corner to put the home side in front. Roscommon tried everything to get back into the game but they could not get the better of the Mayo defence. While Roscommon were chasing an equaliser, Mayo got their third goal with 10 minutes remaining and it was Luke 0’Reilly who was on target again scoring from close range. Mayo settled for the 3-1 win and it confirmed their top spot in their group.

Mayo now face Inishowen on the 27th April at home in the SFAI Jim Cashin Cup quarter final.
