HE INFLUENCED A GENERATION
Bert Weedon, a British guitarist whose popular instructional manual”Play in a day” taught the instrument to a generation of young hopefuls — young hopefuls named Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, John Lennon and Paul McCartney — died on Friday at his home in Beaconsfield, in the English county of Buckinghamshire. He was 91. “Play in a Day” was first published in 1957, and the advice it contained was equally sober in teaching readers how to hold the instrument and introducing basic chords.
Sadly there was no sweet music from Iorras Aontaithe in the Super League over the weekend. A very very depleted side slumped to a 3-0 defeat away to Claremorris on Saturday evening the 21st. (Next fixture, home to Fahy Rover on Sunday 29th April, 2’30pm kick-off)
In the local derby on Sunday 22nd, Iorras Aontaithe (B) and Kilmore United played out a 0-0 draw. (Next fixture, away to Charlestown Athletic on Saturday evening the 28th with 6.30pm kick-off)

POINTS SHARED IN LEAGUE OPENER
Iorras were one up after 12 minutes when joint player-Manager, Brendan Nallen slotted home from the edge of the area but the visitors were back level on 30 minutes when the Erris wall failed to deal with a Enda McGahan free, just outside the box, and it remained level at the break.
About 10 minutes into the second half Erris had their Captain sent off, but three minutes later Iorras went in front when the visitors, ———- headed the ball into his own net. With the clock ticking down, Iorras gave away a penalty and Enda McGahan converted to seal a point for Manulla.
