DOWN TO THE WIRE FOR THE MASTERS

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 12:04 pm

It’s down to the wire for Iorras Aontaithe Over 35’s in the Masters league with a play-off with Fahy Rovers to see who will be crowned Champions for 2011. It’s been a great second season for the Erris United greats of days past and Manager, Martin McIntyre with one defeat from 14 games, plus they clocked up 1400 miles travelling that lovely road to the Milebush Astro in Castlebar, encountering rain, frost, snow, wind, potholes, tar, bends (lots of them), bushings, track rods, petrol, diesel, tyres,  plus balancing their Family life and work commitments along the way, and one more thing, red card and injures and frustration, and if that’s not commitment I don’t know what is.   So, next Wednesday evening the 30th March is the big show down with Fahy Rovers at 8pm at the Milebush Astro,so get yourself to Milebush and support the lads. The draw also take place for the Masters Astro Cup on this Sunday the 27th with An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny making the draw with the competition kicking-off on Wednesday 4th of May.

Iorras Aontaithe 35’s will face Ballyvary Blue Bombers (B) on Wednesday evening the 6 April in  round one of the Oliver Kelleher Masters Cup

A speedy recovery to Pat Murphy who plays a vital role in the Over 35 squad and this comes from all his buddy’s in the Club hoping you will be back to full action soon.

TORQUAY SIGN RONAN ON LOAN

Ronan Murray

Torquay United have signed Ipswich Town striker Ronan Murray on a loan deal to the end of the season.

Manager Paul Buckle has been openly seeking to bolster his striking options at Plainmoor and Murray, 19, is a young player with a growing pedigree.

Bucks has been in negotiation with Ipswich manager Paul Jewell and the chief scout at Portman Road, former United midfielder Steve McCall, and the paperwork should be completed in time for Saturday’s key clash with Shrewsbury Town.

“I am thrilled to sign Ronan,” said Bucks. “A lot of clubs have been chasing the lad and I am sure he will be a great addition.

“Steve McCall and Paul Jewell have been great with us and I am very grateful they have allowed Ronan to join our club.

“He will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game with Shrewsbury at Plainmoor.”

The result was Torquay 5 Shrewsbury town 0. Ronan had an excellent start to his on loan spell in sunny Devon and was very instrumental in the 5 – 0 rout with his passing and vision.  Best of luck from all at Erris United.
