It was a case of “what a load of balls” when local Belmullet butcher, Kevin Garvey presented the club with footballs for the coming Super League season. Kevin s butcher shop is located at American street, called “Bia Iorrais”. Iorras Aontaithe would like to thank Kevin for this welcomed sponsorship and continuing support.

“TWO GOAL CAROLAN NOT ENOUGH”
Two great goals by Stephen Carolan was not enough to see Iorras Aontaithe past the preliminary stage in the second round of the F.A.I. Ford Senior Cup at wind swiped Carnenash Park on Sunday 24th May. Iorras played with the strong breeze in the first half and where the first to score on 33 minutes when Stephen Carolan hit home from close range. But 6 minutes later the visitors levelled from a corner to leave the match 1-1 at the break. In the second half Iorras regained the lead 15 minutes into the game when Stephan Carolan got down low to head home from a Garth O’ Malley cross. But 5 minutes later Cherry Orchard made use of the strong breeze when they were awarded a free from.35 yards and Iorras Keeper, Shane Nallan was caught off guard when the free was taken quickly and it went into the goal to make it 1-2. Iorras worked very heard against the strong wind to level the game but Cherry Orchard scored two more goals to clinch the game. Iorras played while, despite the score line, with the referee making some strange decisions during the game. (Three match officials 240 Euro)
After the excitement of national cup football, over the past number of months, its back to Super League action for Iorras Aontaithe.

CHERRY ORCHARD COME TO TOWN.
This Sunday May 24th,Famed Cherry Orchard from the Leinster senior league visit,
fortress Carnenash, in the second round of the F.A.I. senior cup, this is Iorras Aontaithe first ever appearance in the F.A.I. Ford Senior Cup and is due reward for their performance, over the winter months when they reached the semi final of the Junior cup before losing to, eventual winners, Ballymun Utd. 25TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE AND GROUND OPENING.
Plans are now in place for the Clubs 25th Anniversary celebration dinner dance in the 13th June in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel with special guest the C.E.O. of the Football Association of Ireland, John Delaney it starts at 7.30pm sharp with tickets at 30 Euro. You can buy your ticket from any committee member or club officer. The club also hopes to launch their 25th anniversary book on the night. Earlier on that day their will be a novelty fun day at the club ground for children followed at 5.00pm with a tape cutting ceremony to officially open the pitch.

F.A.I. FORD SENIOR CUP ROUND TWO
Next Sunday the 24th May Iorras Aontaithe take on Dublin Side, Cherry Orchard in the second round of the F.A.I. Ford Senior Cup at Carnenash Park with a 2.30pm Kick-Off. Player-Manager, Eric O’Reilly he will have a full strength side to choose from for the game A big crowd is expected for this clash, so be at the ground early and parking restrictions will be in place.

CHADWICKS CUP
This Saturday the 9th has Iorras Aontaithe (B) at home to Charlestown Athletic in the first round of the Chadwicks Cup while Iorras Aontaithe (A) are away to Snogboro United and both game have a 6.00pm kick-off.
RESULT
And so it came to pass that on the evening of the 9th of May in the year 2009 Iorras Aontaithe (A) and (B) exited the Chadwicks Cup at the first hurdle.
First the B team, they went down in extra time 1-2 at home against Charlestown Athletic, this game was played at Kilmore Community Ground and thanks to Kilmore for facilitating the Club, and the A team also lost 2-1 away to Super league rivals, Snugboro United. Better luck next time everyone.
