POINTS SHARED AS LEAGUE SEASON KICKS OFF

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 8:02 pm

Iorras u-14s made the long journey to Ballinrobe to kick off their 2015 league campaign. With various members missing due to holidays and injuries, manager Harry was delighted to come away with a share of the spoils, even though the lads were disappointed to have conceded a late equalizer.
Iorras started the brighter with Dara and Diarmaid spearheading the attack, ably assisted by flying wingers Matthew W and Gabriel, with shots flying wide of the target. Midfield pair Owen and Eamon had their hands full and we’re coping well under increasing Ballinrobe pressure.

Iorras U16, begin their league campaign with share of the points.

Iorras U14’s, begin their league campaign with share of the points.

Midway through the half Iorras conceded direct from a brilliant corner which left keeper and captain Luke with no chance. Iorras were now under serious pressure, and reached half time only one down thanks to some dogged defending from mark T and Niall, not to mention goal line clearances from Mark H and Shea. Some polite words from the manager at half time seemed to stir the Iorras boys and they went in search of an equalizer, and it came after good pressure from Diarmaid caused the keeper to fumble and allow Gabriel to hammer home. Iorras subs Matthew T, Darragh, Cillian and Edward entered the fray and led the charge for the next score, and after mark H won a free on the edge of the box, up stepped Shea to put Iorras 2-1 up with a screamer. Backs to the wall time, and with 4 mins left on the clock, Ballinrobe scored with a break away goal to sink the Iorras hearts.
Final score Ballinrobe 2, Iorras 2.
Well done to all and thanks to driver Derek for getting us home before dark!

OISÍN RULES AS IORRAS REACH FINAL

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 12:03 pm
Oisín with Kyle & Eamon look very happy after their afternoons work.

Oisín (centre) with Kyle & Eamon look very happy after their afternoons work.

Oisín Murphy was at his spectacular best mid-field for Erris United away to Castlebar Celtic in the semi-final of the Westaro Cup on Sunday 14th with 4-3 final score.

Two goal in the opening half from Eamon Carey and Ivan Barrett which had the sides going in at the break with Iorras 2-1 and two more great efforts from Kyle O’Reilly in the second half, Castlebar Celtic  scored two in the final ten minutes but it wasn’t enough to stop Iorras from reaching the final.

Erris Keeper Shane Nallan pulled off two great saves each side of the half but it was Oisín Murphy who took all the plaudits with his display and bearing in mind he had completed a 360KM cycle from Dublin to Belmullet over two days previous in the great escape cycle fundraiser for the Capuchin day center in Dublin, he’s a mighty buck. Manager Martin McIntyre was very happy with over all team performance.

Iorras will face Manulla in the final on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd August in Milebush Park Caslebar
