FCS CUP FINAL FOR IORRAS

Category: UncategorizedThomas @ 6:23 pm

Iorras Aontaithe put in an excellent display in the FCS Cup (Divisional Trophy) Semi-Final at home to Claremorris on Sunday 5th June, final score, Iorras 3 Claremorris 0.

Erris United, in Divisional cup final

Brendan Nallen scored on 13 minutes with an excellent finish just inside the area. Then Mark Gilbert made it 2-0 with a very good individual effort from a tight angle on 15 minutes. Claremorris, for their efforts, were well controlled by the Iorras rear guard with the visitors, Paul Ryan, David Grant and Mark Doble having a very frustrating afternoon. It remained 2-0 at half time.

Iorras had the advantage of the wind in the  second half and they continued, with good defending and good play going forward.   Then on 54 minutes John Cafferkey made it 3-0 with a top drawer effort from all of 30 yards-Lionel Messi would be proud. Claremorris had their moments but Ivan Barrett was untroubled in the Iorras goal, deputising for Enda Conroy who was on his honeymoon. Over all, a very good team effort. Well done everyone.
