IORRAS AONTAITHE U13s EDGE EVER CLOSER.

Iorras Aontaithe U13s moved 5 points clear of their nearest challengers in their bid to win the Mayo u13 division one league title, after an superb win over an excellent Ballina town side in Ballina this evening. Despite falling behind to an early strike, two goals from Evan Ivers and a superb header from Luke O Reilly gave Iorras a hard earned victory. Iorras u13 final league match is home to Charlestown this Saturday ko 1.30pm Carnenash,

IORRAS U13s STAY TOP OF TABLE

Iorras Aontaithe u13 kept up their excellent league form with a 6.1 victory over Manulla (B) in Carnenash this evening.

Despite losing goalkeeper Anthony Walsh early on with sickness, and Owen McHale taking over in goals. Two goals from Cormac Murray and one each from Gabriel Harding, Shea O’ Donoghue, Evan Ivers and Luke O’Reilly gave Iorras a comfortable victory,with two games to go. The division one league titles destiny is in their own hands. Best of luck boys.

IORRAS (B) HAVE THE “O” FACTOR

We’ve all heard of the “X” factor, well say hello to the “O” factor from Iorras Aontaithe (B), it was very much in evidence  on Thursday evening the 13th when Erris (B) clocked up another three points at home to Hollister in Division one, final score Erris (B) 4 Hollister 2.

Iorras Aontaithe (B) were ahead at the break with two first half goals from Kyle O’Reilly from a free and the other from Gareth O’Malley. Hollister scored twice in the second half but further goals by O’Malley from a penalty and another effort from Kyle O’Reilly secured the three points for the home side.

ERRIS BY THE SEA

Iorras Aontaithe certainly sparkled in the June sunshine at home to Snugboro United on Sunday the 9th with a very good performance and a score-line to match, Erris United 6 Snogboro United 2. The visitors started brighter and they had Erris on the back-foot in the opening few minutes.

But 7 minutes into the game a mix up in the Snogboro defence gifted Iorras the lead with Sean Gaughan sneaking in to score. But know sooner had Erris gone in-front, Sean McHale had Snogboro back level with close range header on 8 minutes. Snogboro continued to press with John Carty, Sean Curry, Joe McDonald bring the best out of  Scott Kilker who was making his senior debut appearance between the posts for Erris.

Iorras started to impose themselves on the game and on 23 minutes Gary Boylan put Erris in-front again with a well taken penalty. Then on 23 minutes Mickey Sweeney, making his full debut for Iorras, scored his first goal with a very good finish. But Snogboro were back level again on 38 minutes when Sean McHale scored his second goal. But then right form kick-off, Iorras were in-front again when Gary Boylan caught the Snogboro defence napping with his excellent effort to leave it 4-2 at the break. In the second half Iorras continued their dominance with Mickey Sweeney scoring his second goal on 77 minutes, scoring with a nice chip over the head of Kevin Stenson, Snogboro Keeper.

scored his second goal on 84 minutes to round off a good afternoon for Erris in the Summer sunshine.  This was a important three points for Iorras who are at the bottom end of the Super League table. It was also nice to see the return of Anthony Mills who has been out of football action since last year.

Meanwhile, Iorras (B) continued their good league form away to Ballyheane (B) with 1-0 win, Harry Reilly the provider with a second half goal. So overall, a good day at the office for all concerned.

SUN SHINE,ICE CREAM, TEA, SANDWICHES, COMÓRTAS 2013

On Wednesday 5th June the Iorras Aontaithe National School Comórtas took place in lovely sun shine. Thirteen National Schools took part this year and once again it was a very enjoyable and fulfilling for all those involved. Erris United would like to thank all the Schools/Teachers/Minders for participating in the Day and making it a success and also to all the Club members for their input. Congratulations to Belmullet N.S. on winning the Shield final against Glencastle and to Drumgallach N.S on winning the Plate final against Shraigh N.S. KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY

Iorras (B) continue their good league form of late with a 3-4 away win over Mulranny United on Sunday 2nd June.

Erris (B) were trailing 2-1 at the break, Eric O’Reilly with a penalty, but in the second half Iorras (B) showed again that they like coming from behind when Eric slotted home his second penalty effort of the afternoon, and keeping it in the Family, was Son, Kyle O’Reilly with his goal effort and sealing the three points for Erris (B) was Gareth O’Malley with his nice finish.

Iorras (B) have a busy time over the next two weeks with four games.

LOTS OF GOALS BUT ERRIS U15 UNLUCKY

In the Summer evening sunshine – yes – the Summer evening sunshine – Iorras Aontaithe U15 were unlucky not to have taken a point from this league encounter at home to Manulla on Wednesday evening the 29th May, final score Erris 4 Manulla 7. In the second half Adam Carabine hit the cross bar for Erris on 78 minutes and Darragh Murray was a constant problem to the Manulla defence and came very close at netting a hat-trick on 57 minutes.

“AND THE AWARD GOES TO”

Iorras Aontaithe/Erris United award winners for the 2012 season.

The Erris United/Iorras Aontaithe club awards were presented on Friday evening the 24th May for the 2012 Football season. The awards were held in the Clann Lir and, like every year, it was well attended. The Master of ceremony was Club Youth Coach, Des O’Connor. The New Club Chairman, Micky Dixon welcomed everyone and thanked McNulty Travel/Coaches and Derrick McNulty for their Sponsorship of the awards. The Chairman went on to thank all the club sponsors and all at the Club for their commitment and hard work. He congratulated all the winners.

 

The Erris United U14 Divisional Shield winners recording a ten from ten in the process.

The awards were as follows: U11 Player of the year-Shane O’Donohue. U12 P.O.Y- Fionnan Ryan. U13 P.O.Y.- Aran Reilly. U14 P.O.Y.- Michael Keane. U15 P.O.Y-Marty Boylan. U16 P.O.Y- Jamie Flannary. U17 P.O.Y.- Tony Conroy. U18 P.O.Y.- Brendan McGrath.

 

The Masters Player of the year was Stephan Carolan. The Erris United (B) team Player of the year was Eamon Carey. The Erris United (A) team Player of the year was Michael Meeaghan.

The Golden Boot awards went to: U12 GB- joint winners- Evan Ivers & Luke O’Reilly. U13 GB- Evan Ivers. U 14 GB- Dara O’Muirithe. U15 GB- Ryan O’Donohue. U16 GB- Pete MacArthur. U17 GB- Kyle O’Reilly. U18 GB- Joint winners, Kyle O’Reilly & Gary Boylan. The Masters Golden Boot was jointly won by Eric O’Reilly & Stephen Carolan. The Erris United (B) team golden Boot went to Eric O’Reilly. The Iorras Aontaithe (A) Golden Boot went to Micky Togher.

Joint winners in the Golden Boot category for the Masters was Eric O'Reilly & Stephen Carolan with Derick McNulty of McNulty Travel, awards Sponsor.

Also recognised and presented with their medals was the Iorras Aontaithe U14 panel that won the Divisional Shield recording ten wins out of ten in the process.

 

The Erris United Masters were also recognised for the League & Cup winning achievements.

Also recognised was Gary Boylan & Ryan O’Donohue who are part of the emerging Talent programme.

 

The Club Chairman Micky Dixon made a special presentation on behalf of the Club to the former Chairman, Tom Reilly in recognition of his role and that of his Wife over the past eight years.

UNLUCKY IORRAS AONTAITHE (A) EXIT CUP

Iorras Aontaithe lost 3.2 to Castlebar Celtic in thrilling divisional cup clash in Carnenash this evening,after going behind midway through the first half Iorras squared the tie when a Brendan Nallen free kick was superbly headed to the net by Niall Geraghty after 26 minutes,without any more chances of note it ended all square at  1-1 at the break.

Iorras started the second half slowly and found themselves 3.1 down, from then on it was all Iorras and good saves from the Celtic keeper kept out David Reilly,Mikey Sweeney and Mark Gilbert. Iorras pulled a goal back through a David Reilly penalty after a Mikey Sweeney shot was handled after 71 minutes. Iorras pinned Celtic back,  but despite good efforts from Gary Boylan Mickey Sweeney and Mark Gilbert Iorras couldnt force an equaliser and exit the cup.

IORRAS (B) COME FROM BEHIND TO GRAB FIRST THREE POINTS

Iorras Aontaithe (B) recovered from been 2-0 down in the first half, in the forth round League one encounter away to Conn Rangers on Sunday 19th May, to grab their first three points of the season with a final score: Conn Rangers 2 Iorras Aontaithe (B) 3. Three second half goals from Eric O’Reilly (2) and a debut goal from new signing, Chris Barrett. The third goal was from a free from Eric to clinch all three points. Erris United (B) are making a habit of coming from behind, they did so against Achill Rovers recently.
